Below are some of the recent articles posted at CCPOA.org that reflect the new Governor’s willingness to work with the union and our members in the New Year.

You may have recently received a packet of information from CCPOA asking for your participation in class-action litigation named Newton v. Schwarzenegger. This suit is CCPOA’s attempt to seek relief through the Federal Courts from CDCR from violation the Fair Labor Standards Act. It is extremely important that you fill out the paperwork and return it to CCPOA if you wish to be a party to the suit. For more information, go to www.ccpoa.org.

Additionally, you may be aware that CCPOA’s Board of Directors have reached a consensus that our association will attempt to negotiate a MOU with the Schwarzenegger Administration. In the past, CCPOA would servey the membership to seek input on issues that should be addressed by our negotiating team. At this time CCPOA has distributed the following statement relative to pre-negotiating surveys.

“In preparation for potential negotiations, CCPOA has established a dedicated email address for members to provide suggestions/input to your negotiating team. Over the next few weeks, CCPOA will compile all suggestions/input received from members (and or spouses) identified by first initials, last name and work location- i.e. parole region 3, Folsom, SVSP, etc. The email address is negotiations@ccpoa.org”

Do not pass up this opportunity to express your concerns that may benefit the entire membership.

Finally, I received an update on some of the litigation that CCPOA has in the works on behalf of the Membership. This information was provided by Chuck Alexander (CCPOA Excutive Vice President). Click HERE to Read Chuck’s Memo.

Let’s watch each others’ backs,

Terry Hammon
Vice President
